Some of my client’s biggest regrets and ‘dang it’ moments have been they didn’t take up health insurance.
It is the one you will utilise the most over your lifetime, statistically people use it 400% over its value during your lifetime.
As health insurance is used for minor illnesses and major you benefit both sides, surgeries, hospital treatment, medication, specialist appointments, chemotherapy, CT scans, X-rays, ultrasounds, the list goes on and on.
You will get fast tracked, top of the line treatment in a private hospital (some are like 5 star hotels and as stink as having to get medical treatment is, I look forward to getting treated privately, it is pretty swish!) with more care and far more personalised, there is no rush or pressure to kick you out like there is in a public hospital, the specialist doctors have more time to be thorough and I feel like there is a better more informed duty of care.
Time and time again we see people setting up GoFundMe pages for family that fall sick and can’t afford the medication they need to either beat their cancer or have the opportunity to live longer with drugs that aren’t available through PHARMAC here in New Zealand. Good health insurance solves this.
